A religious group standing up for gender equality and reproductive rights.

religious and pro-choice

You might be forgiven in this political climate for believing that all Christians and Catholics are against reproductive freedom, particularly with the news the past several years. However, it is important to realize that this is not the case. A group called Catholics for Choice and advocates for reproductive freedom and following one’s individual conscience. They mention on their website that 1 in 4 abortion patients were Catholic, and that a large number of Catholics support reproductive rights.

The group is based in Washington DC and acts to advocate for the right to birth control, abortion, gender equality, and more. It is a home for Catholics who advocate for these things because of their religious faith, and are trying to take back the narrative from the religious right. It is a good reminder that you can still be religious and pro choice.

However, it is important to note that Catholics for Choice are not the only groups advocating for reproductive freedom. Planned parenthood has worked with religious leaders, the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice advocates for reproductive choice, and so many faiths exist that support reproductive choice in their own doctrines.

It’s important to know that groups like this exist, so that we can build connections and a better future. For more information on reproductive health and options, download the Euki reproductive health app or visit AbortionPillInfo.org or our Facebook.
