A new study published in Obstetrics and Gynecology confirms what millions of women already know – taking the abortion pill can be just as safe via telemedicine in their own home as it is in the physical presence of a doctor.

This study challenges the premise of laws prohibiting telemedicine abortions, which are prevalent both across the US and internationally. The study is a great step towards emphasizing the legitimacy of using abortion medication at home, which would drastically improve abortion access for millions of people.

The research also confirms a study published earlier this year in the BMJ on the safety of online telemedicine, in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
