Christian Nationalism is wrong, the Texas judge is wrong, Mifepristone is safe to take
This April, Christian Nationalist Texas Judge showed his true despicable colors and ruled to invalidate the FDA’s approval of the abortion pill Mifepristone via an injunction. In his decision, he demonstrated a flagrant disregard for scientific fact, and a hatred for bodily autonomy and for pregnant individuals. In spite of this, Mifepristone is still a safe pill to take. While the situation is changing rapidly, here are the facts.
Mifepristone is still safe to take
If you have it in your medical cabinet, or if you get access to it by some other way, Mifepristone is still incredibly safe to take. Do not let the fear mongering of some patriarchal judge convince you otherwise. Mifepristone is safer than childbirth, safer than Viagra, safer than a great many things that we do or take in our lives.
The Decision is being Appealed
While a Texas judge is trying to ban mifepristone, a Washington judge is trying to keep it on the market. A Washington judge just ruled that mifepristone should not be removed from the market. This means that legally speaking, the decision is still in limbo, as federal courts have conflicting rulings.
Misoprostol is still Legal
While it is not the gold standard like Mifepristone in combination with Misoprostol, Misoprostol alone is still effective, and still available. While it may cause more severe cramping than the combination, there are methods to try to improve comfort while taking the pills.
