Announcing Euki, A New Sexual & Reproductive Health App
SASS is excited to introduce you to Euki – an app for anyone who wants accurate, complete, and unbiased information about sexual and reproductive health (SRH). You can download it in the Apple app store and Google Play store.
Euki, a name that evokes eucalyptus, a plant associated with soothing and wellness, is the first app of its kind to offer SRH information and tools to track what’s going on with your body in one place AND on a totally private and secure platform. The app is especially for people in the United States, but much of the information is relevant to people all over the world.
Euki addresses the needs of anyone who can get pregnant, including queer people, transgender people, gender non-conforming people, people with multiple sex partners, people with irregular periods, and anyone who may have felt misunderstood or marginalized by the medical system. Euki also puts abortion back where it belongs – alongside comprehensive information about sexual health.
Turn to Euki for information on sexuality, abortion, miscarriage, contraception, and STIs from sources you can trust, like the World Health Organization, Scarleteen, and All-Options. Euki can answer questions like:
- How do I self-manage an abortion? How do I support a friend through an abortion? What should I ask a clinic before my abortion?
- What are the different types of birth control? How do I start and stop one particular method? What do I do if I had unprotected sex?
- How do I talk to partners about STIs? Where can I get tested?
- What is a miscarriage? How do I know if I had one? Where can I go for support?
Euki has information about sex, consent, pregnancy options, and links to direct service and advocacy organizations, all within the app.
Euki also has a customizable calendar that let’s you track everything from your bleeding (spotting, light, medium, and heavy) and period products to your emotions, body symptoms (achey, bloating, cramps…) and sexual activity. You can customize the calendar to track only what’s useful for you, and plug in appointments and discrete reminders, too.
Privacy is Euki’s biggest priority. Unlike many other period tracking apps, Euki does not store any user data in the cloud. Data is only stored on the app in your phone, and no one else has access to it. Not us, not Apple, not anyone. There’s no backend to the app, so no one can access your information unless you hand them your phone. You can choose to protect Euki with a password, and it can even display a fake screen if you type in a certain code.
In the next few months, Euki will be available in Spanish. In the meantime, download the app, leave us a review, and share Euki with everyone you know!
